Privacy Policy
Effective November 5, 2026
This policy explains what information SFLDems.com ("South Florida Democrats," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. By using this site or submitting a form, you agree to this policy.
The short version
- We collect what you type into our forms, plus basic technical data that every website sees.
- We use it to organize: emails about meetups, races, volunteering and running for office.
- If you sign up to attend meetups, we may share your contact info with people hosting meetups near you, and with others who share our goals.
- You can unsubscribe anytime, or ask us to delete your info.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up, RSVP, or volunteer to attend or host a meetup, we collect what you enter, which may include your name, email address, ZIP code, county, profession, interests, Instagram and Threads handles, and the form or event you signed up through.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our hosting and security providers may receive technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages you visit, and the time of your visit. We may use cookies and similar tools to run the site, keep it secure, and understand how it is used.
Information from other sources. We may combine what you give us with publicly available information, including public voter registration records and public social media profiles.
How we use it
- Send you emails and other messages about meetups, events, elections, candidates, volunteering, fundraising and related news.
- Organize meetups, including connecting hosts with people near them who want to attend.
- Recruit and support volunteers and candidates.
- Operate, secure and improve the site, and understand who our community is and where it lives.
- Comply with the law and protect our rights, our users and the public.
- Any other purpose related to our mission, or that we tell you about when you give us your information.
How we share it
We may share your information with:
- Meetup hosts. If you sign up to attend meetups or RSVP to an event, we may share your name, email, ZIP code, county and social handles with people hosting meetups in your area. If you sign up to host, attendees may learn your name and the general location of your meetup.
- Like-minded organizations. Candidates, campaigns, political committees, party organizations, nonprofits and other groups whose goals we believe are consistent with ours.
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the site and send messages, such as hosting, email and analytics providers.
- Legal and safety. When we believe it is required by law or needed to protect rights, property or safety.
- A successor. If this site, its community or its assets are transferred to or merged with another person or organization, your information may be transferred as part of that.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply and ask to be removed.
- Access, correct or delete. Email us at [email protected]. We will remove you from our active lists, but we may keep a record of your request, and information already shared with others is subject to their policies.
- Social handles are optional. Leave those fields blank if you do not want to share them.
Retention and security
We keep information as long as we find it useful for the purposes above, unless you ask us to delete it or the law requires otherwise. We use reasonable safeguards, but no website or database is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Other sites
We link to official election offices, news sources, social networks and other sites. Their privacy practices are their own.
Changes
We may update this policy at any time by posting a new version here with a new effective date. Changes apply to information collected before and after the update. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
