South Florida Congressional Results 2026: Moskowitz, Dandiya and Gilbert Win as FL-26 and FL-27 Go to the Wire
Republicans redrew the map to take four Democratic seats. In South Florida, voters had other plans.
Florida Republicans redrew the congressional map in April with a goal of a 24 to 4 delegation. The South Florida congressional results show how that went. Every Democrat they targeted here held on, a new Democrat won a district drawn to elect a Republican, and two Miami-Dade Republicans are fighting for their political lives in overtime.
FL-25: Moskowitz survives a seat drawn to beat him
Rep. Jared Moskowitz beat Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer about 51.3 to 46.6. The new FL-25 runs along the coast from part of Delray Beach through Pompano Beach and Hallandale to Miami Beach. Donald Trump carried it 54 to 45 in 2024. Moskowitz won it anyway, after what he called the most money ever spent against a candidate in Florida.
FL-22: Pia Dandiya makes history
First-time candidate Pia Dandiya, a former teacher and high school principal raised in Palm Beach County, beat businessman Casey Askar about 51.9 to 48.1. The new district stretches from Palm Beach and Broward across the Everglades through Hendry County to Marco Island. Dandiya becomes the first South Asian member of Congress from Florida.
FL-24: Oliver Gilbert III succeeds Frederica Wilson
Miami-Dade Commissioner and former Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert III won the open FL-24 in a landslide, succeeding retiring Rep. Frederica Wilson. The redrawn district now reaches north into Broward, including part of Hollywood.
FL-20 and FL-23: safe holds
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz moved to the new FL-20 in central and western Broward and won with about 74 percent. Rep. Lois Frankel moved to FL-23, now entirely in Palm Beach County, and won with about 66 percent.
FL-26 and FL-27: too close to call
In FL-27, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar led former TV anchor Eliott Rodriguez by about 0.46 points, inside the state's 0.5 point recount threshold, with a couple hundred mail ballots still being cured. In FL-26, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart led Nicole Locklin by less than a point. Diaz-Balart has claimed victory. Locklin says the race is not over.
Florida law triggers an automatic machine recount at a margin of 0.5 points or less and a hand count of overvotes and undervotes at 0.25 points or less.
FL-28 and FL-21
Rep. Carlos Gimenez beat Phil Ehr about 52.9 to 45.6 in FL-28, which covers southwest Miami-Dade and the Keys. Rep. Brian Mast won FL-21 on the Treasure Coast.
